Contribute to seed sovereignty for the whole community while learning about how to garden with a seed-steward mentality! Seed harvest season is already in full swing, and our work parties have now transitioned to a blend of garden tending and informal workshop; we have much to demonstrate and teach around seed harvest and processing this time of the year!
We will work outdoors in small groups. If not vaccinated, please carry a mask to wear when in close quarters or maintain social distancing. Masks are optional for others but they are useful to have on hand for seed threshing or winnowing if you are sensitive to dust or mold.
RSVP (see below) is preferred, so that we can plan ahead for the day and provide you with any updates in case of changes.
Late July/early August Projects Include:
- Harvesting early-ripening seeds: parsnip, beets, peas, radish, favas, cilantro, calendula
- Threshing and cleaning early harvested seeds.
- Mulching harvested beds.
- Watering and weeding existing plants.
- Putting up a small seed-drying hoophouse.
Hope you can join us during the most educational part of the season!
